Yadi Hendriana is an alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, who serves as the Chairperson of the Commission for Complaints and Enforcement of Press Ethics in the Press Council for the 2022-2025 period and Director of News at MNC Portal Indonesia. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science in 1998 at Undip, completed the Master of Political Science program also at Undip in 2019, and is currently pursuing a Doctoral program in Communication Science at Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung.

Since 2004, he has worked with MNC Group and has held several Executive Positions in several companies within the group such as News Producer Global TV (2004 – 2005), Executive Producer News Global TV (2005-2006), News Gathering and Production Head Global TV (2006 – 2007), Vice Chief Editor of Global TV (2007 – 2013), Chief Editor of MNCTV (2013 – 2017) and Deputy News Director and Editor in Chief of iNews (2017 – 2020), and Chairman of IJTI for two periods 2012-2016, 2017-2021.

“The governance studies, politics and communication are closely related, networking and relationships exist in these disciplines. What I understand is that our situation when we study in college is only a small part of what we learn, more than that is how we apply it, build networking and get used to building a strong experience. Strong experience is not only supported by knowledge but how can we be more humble anywhere and in any position,” he said.

“I entered Undip through the Penelusuran Minat dan Kemampuan (Interest and Ability Tracking or PMDK) and I had the principle that I must be independent, from being independent we can get the experience of the intricacies of college life and work. I was indeed more interested in journalism because the situation supported it. By developing and practising it, this journalism has tremendous power as the fourth pillar of democracy. This is something extraordinary for the development of my career” he continued

His views on public relations work, he said, were almost the same as journalism. When public relations entered the digital and multi-platform area, public relations activities were not only about making releases but also handling media management, including social media which was currently something dominating.

For Yadi, Undip gave many colours. Undip was a campus that had a turbo-like driving force, a gathering place for various groups of people to activists and what he liked was freedom, freedom of thought, opinion and expression. Campus freedom should not be restrained because that freedom would actually create great people who had talent and were multitasking. So characters would be born in Undip when their freedom was not restrained. So, responsible freedom of expression must be shown

“Lecture is only a small part of the effort to forge oneself, the most important thing is to build networking and then seek as much experience as possible. When we enter the world of work, we need not only smart and strong people. However, today’s world of work requires acceptable people. When people are acceptable, people can be something.” concluded Yadi. (Lin-PR)
